Removing plastic, helping oceans and improving lives when you shop with The Kind Penguins<\/h2>

You may have seen our \u2018Buy One, Get One Tree\u2019<\/a><\/strong> campaign, for example. That\u2019s when our suppliers plant a tree for every order made on our website during the promotion. It costs you nothing and helps make the planet a bit greener \u2013 find out more in our tree blog<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>

Now we\u2019re testing another new partnership. We\u2019ve called it \u2018One Tee, One Kg\u2019 <\/strong>and it aims to help \u2018turn off the tap on ocean plastic\u2019. Again, we\u2019ve kept it super simple and, hopefully, it\u2019s something that helps make the world a better place when you shop with us \u2013 at no cost to you!<\/p>

How the campaign works\u00a0<\/h3>

For every order made during our \u2018One Tee, One Kg\u2019 promotion, our suppliers (the awesome crew at Teemill \u2013 also the brains behind sustainable clothing brand Rapanui) will fund the removal of a kilogram of plastic waste from the environment. That\u2019s roughly the equivalent of 50 plastic bottles.\u00a0<\/p>

To do this, Teemill will count the orders from The Kind Penguins<\/a><\/strong> and make a donation to environmental organisation, Plastic Bank<\/a><\/strong>, to fund their plastic recovery work.<\/p>

Who are Plastic Bank?<\/h3>

Plastic Bank<\/a><\/strong> are based in Vancouver, Canada. They\u2019re working to stop plastic waste getting in to the world\u2019s oceans, while improving the lives of those who help collect it. So far, they\u2019ve removed over 15 million kilograms of ocean-bound plastic. They\u2019ve recovered enough plastic to circle the Earth with straws\u00a0some 2,700 times!<\/p>

Plastic Bank projects pay collectors to remove waste from coastal communities in Haiti, the Philippines, Indonesia, Brazil and now also Egypt. Their collectors gather plastic waste from streets, households, and informal dump sites, properly disposing of the waste before it ends up in the ocean. The plastic is then recycled and reborn as \u2018Social Plastic\u2019 to be remade into new products as part of a closed-loop supply chain.<\/p>

As well as stopping plastic waste from polluting our oceans, Plastic Bank are a social enterprise, regenerating local communities with their ethical recycling ecosystems.<\/p>
